JUAN MATA could come to Jose Mourinho’s rescue and start the new Premier League season as Manchester United’s striker.

Mourinho has cut a frustrated figure throughout United’s difficult pre-season preparations, bemoaning a lack of transfer activity and being without his World Cup stars.

With the new season fast approaching, the Special One is trying to work out a system that would be capable of beating Leicester on the opening day despite their depleted ranks.

And Mata, who has featured as a main striker with Alexis Sanchez, could be Mourinho’s savour.
