Man United & Man City both linked to Spanish-based left-backs

Manchester United & Lucas Hernandez

For a while now, Man United have been linked with a raft of left-backs.
Previously the likes of Alex Sandro from Juventus have been tipped make the move to Old Trafford.Yet none of these deals have transpired.

Jose Mourinho has begun the new season with Luke Shaw as his preferred left-back option. Ashley Young is the most obvious alternative.

However France Football believe that Man United are also interested in signing Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid.

Lucas Hernandez is now a French World Cup winner.

Moreover, the defender is under contract with Atletico until 2024, while he has a release clause of €80 million.

Amid interest from Man United, the Rojiblancos may agree a new deal with the full-back, which would raise Hernandez’s release clause to €140m.

Manchester City & Junior Firpo

From one side of Manchester to the other…

Manchester City are also reportedly looking a new left-back according to El Confidencial.

The Spanish paper claims that 22-year-old Junior Firpo is on Man City’s radar.

Firpo is the starting left-back for Real Betis.

However Man City may struggle to land Firpo. That’s after the defender recently signed a new deal with Betis with a €60 million release clause.

At the same time, Pep Guardiola seems well-stocked with options at left-back.

Benjamin Mendy has looked superb since returning to action this season. While City could also field Aymeric Laporte or Fabian Delph in that defence slot if needed.
