Speaking yesterday in Ilorin, the state Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Joshua Omokanye, said their decision was supported by Section 109 (1) (g) and was therefore not in conflict with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Omokanye, who is the Chairman of Oyun Local Government Area, said the defection train had carried along all political office holders at the third tier of government.

He said this included council chairmen, vice chairmen, speakers, secretaries, supervisory councillors, the 193 elected councillors and other political appointees in the state.
“It is our collective resolve to join the PDP as the worthy alternative platform to further our political careers and work for the advancement of the generality of our people. Since we are welcomed by the party, we have no doubt it wouldn’t be like the conglomeration of strange bedfellows that APC had been in the last four years,” he said.
