The Citizens are only fourth in the league following a shock draw at Wolves, but on the whole they continue to impress, and they have had the most shots of any club by far. Pep Guardiola’s men have pulled the trigger 91 times - resulting in a league-high 11 goals so far. The three teams above City in the actual table are Chelsea, Liverpool and Watford. The first two of those clubs are in second and third on the table ranked by shots, with the Blues taking 76 and the Reds hitting 66. Big Blow to the Blues: Chelsea lose their Belgian forward to La Liga Giants

THE BLUES HAVE FAILED TO KEEP THEIR BELGIUM STRIKER AT THE CLUB AND HAVE DECIDED TO PART WAYS WITH HIM, WITH THE PLAYER MOVING TO LA LIGA.

Michy Batshuayi has failed to convince Maurizio Sarri for the upcoming season and has agreed to another loan move. The striker has joined Valencia for the 2018-19 season after his six-month stint with Dortmund.

BATSHUAYI TO SPAIN:

Valencia announced the loan move with an official announcement on their website. “Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Chelsea FC for the transfer of Michy Batshuayi until the end of this season.”

The Belgian was expected to get another shot at the redemption in London, after his time at Dortmund. The striker scored 7 goals in just 10 Bundesliga appearances before his heroics were cut short due to an injury. Batshuayi also finished third in the World Cup with his national team and also scored a goal against Tunisia.

Chelsea’s main striker, Alvaro Morata has failed to find his feet at the Stamford Bridge so far. And while the Blues have Olivier Giroud in their ranks, the World Cup winner himself is not in a great form. Batshuayi would have provided a great backup option for Sarri, but the Italian has decided to go with just Morata and Giroud.

Sevilla was another Spanish club interested in the player, but a chance to play in the Champions League with Valencia was a bigger priority for Batshuayi. The striker still has a contract with Chelsea until 2021 and will look to impress the club during his time in Spain.

Chelsea will open their EPL campaign with a game against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

AUTHOR’S TAKE:
While Valencia looks like a good decision on Batshuayi’s part, I’m not too sure about Chelsea’s decision to allow him to leave. The Blues clearly cannot bank on Morata and Giroud for the entire season. Someone like Batshyayi would have been a good option in front of the goal as he is motivated to perform and in clearly a better state of mind than Morata.
