Chelsea handed massive boost in their pursuit of Premier League rivals star

Chelsea are planning to launch a late bid to sign Aaron Ramsey as Arsenal are prepared to sell the midfielder, according to reports.
The 27-year-old has just under a year remaining on his current contract with the Gunners and would be able to leave the club on a free transfer next summer if he fails to sign a new deal.

Arsenal have been in talks with Ramsey’s agent this summer but so far an agreement has not been reached and the midfielder admitted last month that he is unsure when negotiations would be resolved.

According to the Sunday Express, Chelsea are ready to capitalise by submitting an offer for Ramsey in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, which closes on Thursday.

The report also claims that Arsenal are ‘ready to sell’ Ramsey in order to fund more new signings to boost their own squad.

Earlier this week, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri admitted that he was keen for the club to recruit another midfielder before the end of the transfer window.

‘We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics [would be a good fit],’ he said.

The Sunday Express reports that Sarri had been interested in a deal for Jack Grealish but Tottenham are leading the race to sign the midfielder from Aston Villa.
