Loftus-Cheek, after spending last season on loan at Crystal Palace and also having been part of the England World Cup squad this summer, faces a tough fight to get into the Chelsea midfield.

It is an area of the squad that is rich with talent with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas all vying for a place in the starting eleven.

But, according to the news source, the Times, here at Vital Chelsea, we’re pondering whether Ruben has already lost the battle when it comes to his mind-set.

Now, there’s no doubting Ruben is a talented individual but, if we could spend ten minutes in his company, we’d be telling him to use that ability to show Maurizio Sarri he is as good, if not better than his fellow team-mates who are vying for a position in the side.

If Loftus-Cheek can get a start then it is up to the player to ensure he does his best to keep his place not already have thoughts about a Plan B!
