Chelsea midfielder Willian has instructed his lawyers to take action after a “forged” letter appeared to authorise a change of agent.
Willian, who has made 236 appearances for Chelsea, released a statement on Instagram calling attention to a letter he contests contains a forgery of his signature.
The letter, which purports to be “legally recognised by FIFA”, permits a man named Mr. Renee Pinheiro Anunciação to represent Willian until August 15th 2018, six days after the Premier League’s transfer window closes.
The intentions of the alleged forger are unclear, but Willian, who has been linked with moves to both Barcelona and Manchester United this summer, has requested his lawyers look into the matter and says the document has been circulated without his knowledge “through the football market”.
On Instagram, Willian wrote: “In the recent days I have been informed that a ‘letter of authorisation for player agent FIFA’, allegedly signed in my name has been circulated through the football market.
“In such letter, Mr. Denirobson Dias would grant an authorisation to Mr. Renee Pinheiro Anunciação to represent me until 15 August 2018, throughout football clubs in the United Kingdom and France.

I would like to clarify that I never signed such letter, the content of which I completely deny. Finally, since there seem to be clear evidence that my signature has been forged, or anyway misused, I hereby inform that my lawyers are already instructed to proceed with all appropriate legal measures before any competent courts or authorities.

“I hope I have clarified the matter and any possible misunderstanding.”
Willian has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United all having at different stages throughout the summer been rumoured to hold an interest in the Brazilian.
After reaching the World Cup quarter-finals with Brazil in Russia this summer, Willian was a late returner to Chelsea ahead of the new season.
The 29-year-old made 55 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring 13 goals – his best-ever return in a single season for the Blues.
Chelsea’s season gets underway with Sunday’s Community Shield final against Manchester City at Wembley.
