Deal Close: Arsenal agree fee for 29-year-old striker

West Ham are close to signing Arsenal ace Lucas Perez in a £5 million deal. The Spanish striker was signed from Deportivo La Coruna for £17 million two years ago but struggled to secure a regular first-team role during his debut season at Emirates. Perez started just two Premier League games under former boss Arsene Wenger and was allowed to rejoin Deportivo La Coruna on loan last season.
According to ESPN, Lucas Perez has now agreed a three-year contract with the Hammers, with the option of a further 12-month extension. The 29-year-old attacker is due to undergo a medical with the London rivals on Tuesday.

If West Ham complete the deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline day, then the forward will become the club’s ninth signing of the summer and will take the total spending close to £100 million. It did appear as if new Arsenal manager Unai Emery would give Perez a second chance as he included him in the pre-season tour of Singapore.

The Hammers have spent big this summer as they have landed the likes of Issa Diop, Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko.
