Southampton have taken a lot of shots this season THE Premier League table ranked by shots ahead of the fifth matchday makes for fascinating reading. The Citizens are only fourth in the league following a shock draw at Wolves, but on the whole they continue to impress, and they have had the most shots of any club by far. Pep Guardiola’s men have pulled the trigger 91 times - resulting in a league-high 11 goals so far. The three teams above City in the actual table are Chelsea, Liverpool and Watford. The first two of those clubs are in second and third on the table ranked by shots, with the Blues taking 76 and the Reds hitting 66. But the Hornets, despite winning four straight games, are down in 12th place with just 48 shots so far. Perhaps the most...

If Martial goes could United add another striker or do they need to?

Surely with the wealth of young and experienced forwards who can play in an advanced role Jose Mourinho does not need to sign another striking option.

United already have the imperious Romelu Lukaku of course, as well as young studs Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial who can both operate through the middle as well as the incredibly versatile Alexis Sanchez who also is more than capable of operating in the middle even as a lone striker.

So surely notions of signing another striker are wide of the mark when you consider the options available to the United manager.

When you consider reports that have suggested Jose is after the likes of Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic who admittedly had a good World Cup but surely cannot be considered a better option than Rashford, Sanchez or Martial who is rumoured to be close to a United exit.

Other reports have suggested the United boss is keen on Austrian international Marko Arnautovic who after a good spell at Stoke City had a slow start at West Ham but came on strong in the second part of the season.

Arnautovic though really? Can you actually see him as a United player.

Where might Jose look if Martial leaves which if we believe reports is looking increasingly like what both the manager and the player want although they may have to work together for one more season? Martial has been linked with Chelsea, Arsenal and even Spurs in recent weeks.

With Robert Lewandowski making noises about wanting out of Bayern Munich could United look to pull off a massive deal?

This one would make no sense though even if you swapped Martial plus cash for Lewandowski – how could you accommodate Lukaku and Lewandowski in the same team.

Could United make a move for Barcelona’s French World Cup winning forward Ousmane Dembele who has been linked with Arsenal?

Not sure if the Frenchman is Jose’s kind of player but there is no doubting his talent and Jose likes raw talent. If Martial leaves, United could stick with what they have but surely they will want at least one more attacking signing plus a centre-back especially if Marcus Rojo really is leaving to join Everton which we hope does not happen.
