It is no secret the Welshman is struggling to agree to a new contract with the club as negotiations rumble on ahead of the upcoming season, despite the fact the Gunners were hoping to wrap up a deal by now.

Ramsey only has 12 months to run on his current deal and can leave the club for nothing at the end of the season if he does not agree a new contract, something the club do not want to see happen.
And Emery has admitted he wants Ramsey to stay, but the situation is out of his control.

He was asked about the midfielders contract situation, and he said “It’s one question for the club and another for the player. I am very, very concentrated and my focus is thinking everyday about the training, the players and the match on Saturday against Lazio, and then against Manchester City.

“I think my opinion is clear, I want him to be with us, but then it’s one question for the player and the club. My opinion is professional and is in the interest of the team.”

Ramsey has been at the club for more than a decade now and has become an integral part of the way the club like to play their football, but reports suggest the Gunners will not be held to ransom.

They are not prepared to offer him the same kind of wages Mesut Ozil currently gets at the club, and could sell this summer in order to get some funds, if he doesn’t agree to their terms.
