Chelsea to swap Brazilian star for 22-year-old French winger

BURNLEY, ENGLAND - JANUARY 20: Anthony Martial of Manchester United during the Premier League match between Burnley and Manchester United at Turf Moor on January 20, 2018 in Burnley, England.
Manchester United are set to make a last-ditch attempt to sign Willian by offering unsettled winger Anthony Martial in return to Chelsea. The French attacker has been linked with an exit from the club after being publicly reprimanded by manager Jose Mourinho for not flying back to the team’s pre-season tour in the United States following the birth of his child.

Manchester United have seen long-term targets Willian and Ivan Perisic as perfect replacements but have been struggling to reach a deal with the summer transfer window closing on Thursday.

According to The Mirror, both players are consensually valued at around £75 million which will facilitate a swap deal. Anthony Martial returned to training at Carrington on Friday morning and has been included in the squad for the final pre-season friendly against German champions Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Willian irritated new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri by arriving back late from his post-World Cup break because of passport issues. The report adds that Chelsea are cautious to avoid a repeat of Nemanja Matic’s move to Old Trafford for which fans and experts criticised them, but understand they would be getting the better end of this deal considering Anthony Martial is seven years younger than the Brazilian winger.
