From Portugal: Man City and Man United in the mix to sign right back, transfers never rest

Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in Benfica youngster Tomás Tavares, according to the Portuguese press today.

The player, who’s currently being evaluated by manager Rui Vitória to be part of the first team this season, has been attracting scouts from European giants, newspaper O Jogo reports.
That’s the reason Benfica had a hard time to negotiate a new contract with him last month. The player agreed an extension which runs until 2021.
O Jogo writes that his departure to Barça, Man City or Man United was ‘imminent’ this summer, but the Eagles still managed to hold him for longer.

The player is still to make his official debut for Benfica, but has been excelling in different age levels, both for the club’s academy as for the U-17 national team.
O Jogo doesn’t say if he has a release clause or not, but knowing Portuguese clubs as we do, there’s probably a pretty big number will be protecting him in this new contract.
Just one day after the window closed, the rumours are back. Transfers never rest.
